Presenter: Andy Bond, Manager of Standards and Interoperability, NEHTA
Date: 8th November, Tuesday 2011
Time: 2pm – 3pm
Place: University of Auckland Tamaki Campus,School of Population Health
Building 730, Room 373 (Level 3)
Topic:
Healthcare and eHealth are invariably described as complex communities with fragmented parts defined by business, clinical, or technical characteristics. Achieving interoperability amongst such a diverse community is a challenge when even the definition of interoperability is in question. This definition can range from agreeing to a common regulatory framework through to technical and what some call semantic interoperability.
This presentation will provide an interoperability foundation, defining how a sustainable environment for interoperability can be achieved alongside more traditional Enterprise Architecture approaches for bringing technology and businesses into alignment. As examples we will look at the NEHTA Interoperability Framework and the Service Aware Interoperability Framework (SAIF) from HL7.
About Andy:
Andy has driven the interoperability agenda at NEHTA for several years covering organisation, information, and technical aspects of system design and interconnectivity. Prior to NEHTA, Andy was Chief Scientist at the Distributed Systems Technology Centre (DSTC) responsible for research strategy, engagement, and market transition.
Special areas of interest include complexity, middleware, enterprise architectures, and interoperability. His work has included interoperability frameworks, large-scale national and international architectures, and various novel distributed systems innovations.
Andy has a PhD in Computer Science from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
About NEHTA:
NEHTA (National E-Health Transition Authority) continues to develop and progress the national infrastructure and adoption support required for eHealth in Australia, as mandated and funded by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG).For more information on NEHTA visit www.nehta.gov.au
