About broadness of the problem you might find in a hospital context, I would say that as long as it is beneficent for a hospital to invest on solving a problem, you can work on it. The difference in dealing with a more specific problem such as the one you mentioned and a broader one is that the costs and risks that are attached to the innovation should be reasonable when considering the degree of which the innovation would be effective in the whole process of a hospital.
